June in Ibiza

May was hotter and drier than usual and it's looking like June will go the same way.

May was hotter and drier than usual and it's looking like June will go the same way. Apart from last Sunday which started dull with a few spots of rain – great weather for shopkeepers – it's been hot, hot, hot.

So, why should you want to come to Ibiza this month? I found an old article I'd written a long time ago which still holds true today.

“Planning a holiday in Ibiza? Then consider June for some very good reasons.
First and foremost the weather is perfect. The days are long and hot, but not too hot. The sea's warm. The sun shines and there's little chance of rain. Nights are warm enough to dine out under the stars in your finery but you won't need air conditioning in your room.
Out and about traffic flows freely, taxis are easy to come by and you'll find more room by the pool or on the beach (photo, Cala Moli in June) and most kids will be at school. Even the most popular restaurants will have space for you and you'll find the staff have just that bit more time to chat.

June holidays will also please your bank manager. Flights tend to be cheaper and your hotel or apartment will not only be on average 40 to 50% cheaper than in high season, but also easier to book just when you want. And because hotels don't have minimum stay requirements, June is ideal for long weekends or mid-week breaks.
If all that wasn't enough, don't forget that ALL the big clubs pull out ALL the stops for their fabulous opening parties throughout the month.
So what are you waiting for?”

OK, OK, the big clubs open a bit earlier these days but there are still lots of openings this month.

If you want a break from EDM (is it PC to use that term?) then the first days of June were taken over by the rocktastic kerrangers from the HRH Roadtrip with a scrapyard's worth of Very Metal in the V venue in San An.

This week is Jazzerifically good with the Ibiza Jazz Week II (that's dos, not Eye Eye) bringing 9 bands and 5 concerts to locations all over Ibiza.

The main island fiesta this month is San Juan, a fiery festival signifying purification and rebirth and featuring brave souls jumping over bonfires in the village of San Juan itself on the 23rd, along with music and fireworks. Also celebrated island wide, most towns and villages will have some kind of party going on and we'll have the details in the news section as they appear.
