Ibiza Soundtrack: September 2013

Ten great tunes on the island that have taken us through to closings.

1. Green Velvet

'Bigger than Prince'

We can probably award this cheeky Green Velvet number with the biggest track of the month. It's popped up absolutely everywhere since its release, including Loco Dice at Used and Abused, Hot Since 82 at Enter, Carl Cox at his own nights and certainly Green Velvet at any of his gigs this summer. Both the Hot Since 82 remix and Martinez Brothers remix are popular but the original remains the strongest.

2. Daniel Stefanik

'Confidence' (Adam Port remix)

Here is an oft-played card of Sven Väth over the season, popping up most weeks at Cocoon and also a favourite of the afore-mentioned Green Velvet. Adam Port is one of our producer's of the season, also responsible for the Väth gem 'Our Fate', featuring in Spotlight's Inside the Cocoon.

3. TV Baby

'New York is Alright' (Maetrik remix)

Maceo Plex - easily one of the heroes of the 2013 season. It's no suprise the man himself has been playing it at his own gigs, but this fast and funky track has also had play through Stacey Pullen at Music On, Claude Von Stroke at Sankeys and Space and Eats Everything at dirtybird and Defected.

4. Mano Le Tough

'Primitave People' (Tale of Us remix)

Primitive People was a highlight of Mano Le Tough's debut LP released before the season and reviewed on Spotlight. Well the midas-touch duo Tale Of Us have turned their hand to the track and Ibiza has picked it up! Tale of Us have being playing it at their Circo Loco and Enter gigs, as have the Innervisions team wherever they settle, namely the We Love... takeover at Space.

5. Claude Von Stroke

'The Clapping Track'

The latest Claude Von Stroke album is a treasure trove of light-hearted rave-anthems and one was bound to stick. It's The Clapping Track which has been heard most across the island, the charge fronted largely by Dixon at Paradise and We Love, and of course it has seen a lot of love on its homeground -Dirtybird, Sankeys.

6. Bruni and Danielle

'I'm Tired'

What with the Music On takeover of the world - sorry - Ibiza 2013, anything Marco Carola likes to play is going to be big. This jumping delight from Bruni and Danielle has all the markings of a Carola morning on the Amnesia Terrace, complete with tuned down vocals and hi-hat overload.

7. Radioslave

'N.I.N.A.' (Ame remix)

Such a happy tune! Radioslave with the Innervisions touch seems to be a winning combination and this track has been coming out to play a lot for closings. Sven Väth is a fan, airing it often at Cocoon and Cocoon Closing Afters, and of course all of the Innervisions crew at their many September appearances across Space, Sankeys, DC and Amnesia.

8. Yousef and The Angel

'Float Away'

Spotlight pounced on this number as soon as it was released, in our Top Releases of September feature, and now the island is catching up. Yousef himself has been spreading the hands in the air floating number at his slots at Carl Cox's Space parties and previously at his own Circus events at Booom. But even more likely you've caught this one floating out of beach bar speakers of late - we have!

9. Tom Flynn

'Do You Like Bass'

Who doesn't? This question has been asked by Carl Cox all season at his Space residency, and was a standout moment of his closing. Jamie Jones has also picked up on this, and another Tom Flynn track 'Hoochie' at his Paradise parties at DC-10.

10. Agoria

'Scala'

No one can get enough of this one during closing period. We've heard it beaming out across Ushuaïa, we've heard Adriatique knock it out at Diynamic, Sankeys, and most memorably it was an unforgettable track of the Cocoon Afters at Destino. Check out our in-depth interview with Agoria here.
