Review: Best moments from elrow Boiler Room

Contagiously outrageous chaos as elrow takes over Boiler Room at Pikes

Here's a little equation that'll knock your socks off: Boiler Room - a party on most clubbers' bucket list + the madness of elrow at Boiler Room + Pikes = complete and unabashed carnage. Especially when you throw into that mix Eats Everything, Richy Ahmed, Marc Maya and De La Swing. We went expecting our minds to be blown, we were right to do so. Here are our top five moments of a party that was, hands down, one of the best on the island so far this year.

1. The nap that went down poolside

Sleeping, that's not too mad, right? But sleeping at an elrow Boiler Room party, with what looks like a guard's hat placed on your crotch, in the middle of all the action and totally surrounded by inflatable chaos, is quite the scene. And how anyone can sleep through a long stream of complete elrow tomfoolery - with actors tormenting the crowd and objects flying through the air - is a mystery to me. And to top it all off, said sleeping beauty managed to sleep through the entirety of Richy Ahmed's set, despite being curled up next to a speaker. Went to Boiler Room, took a nap, failed at life.

2. Eats Everything playing 'Strings of Life' by Derrick May

This track is undoubtedly one of the happiest of all time, and when it's played by the legend that is Eats Everything - one of the jolliest DJs around - it makes for rather a nice moment. As the mesmerising piano dropped in, the pool became a safety hazard and an array of rainbow colours merged together as revellers danced till their hearts' content. Eats also blessed us with his and Justin Martin's track ‘The Gettup' - another track highlight of the evening.

"There's nothing quite as entertaining as shuffling through a fairly serious looking Boiler Room crowd donned in three to four inflatable rubber rings, a giant blow up squid on your head, while waving around a questionable looking giraffe."

3. Helping ourselves to inflatables

Parties are for making new friends, and my first and favourite of this night was a character we named ‘The Float Hoarder'. There's nothing quite as entertaining as shuffling through a fairly serious looking Boiler Room crowd donned in three to four inflatable rubber rings, a giant blow up squid on your head, while waving around a questionable looking giraffe. So we followed his cue and left sporting as much nonsensical elrow memorabilia as possible.

4. Jumping into the pool fully clothed with Eats Everything

“It's tradition for every DJ to jump in the pool after their set” he said, which I roughly translated as “one of you jump in the pool right now or Boiler Room is no more.” So while the majority of the crowd were dressed up to the nines and didnt seem that up for it, I accepted the challenge and launched myself in, fully kilted up. Post set, Eats landed alongside me with a convincing belly flop, and was swiftly followed by a handful following him on after. I rank this moment in my top five accomplishments in life so far.

5. Being at one of the loosest Boiler Rooms to date

Boiler Room is renowned for its intimacy and exclusivity, and that's partially why there's always an iconic scramble to sign up to bag tickets for every party they announce, with locations that never disappoint. Any party at the legendary Pikes Hotel in Ibiza is going to be wild and this Boiler Room especially had no issues with a lack of grooving and socialising. Friends were made, new dance moves learnt, and it was all live streamed from one of the best venues in Ibiza. Top night.
