Ibiza Beer Festival 2016 comes to town

150 beers from around the world

Make your way to the ninth edition of the Ibiza Beer Festival (Fería de la Cerveza de Ibiza) from Friday 16 September 2016 for a three-day event. This beer-lovers' event takes place in Ibiza Town's Fairground with more than 150 brands of beer from around the world ready to sample at your leisure and pleasure. The event is open to the general public and includes live music, food stalls and activities for kids.

Among this year's highlights are organic beers and craft beers made with added whiskey, rum, saki, absinthe, chestnuts or chilli. The festival kicks off from 7pm on the Friday concluding on Sunday at 6pm. Its official currency is the "birri", equivalent to 1 euro, which you can use to enjoy the many brewed beauties on offer. Entrance is just €3 euros which entitles each ticket bearer to two free birris to spend, with beers costing between €3-6 each.

There are lots of food stands at the event with traditional Spanish and Ibiza fare like tapas and grilled meats as well as tasty bites like sushi, sausages and burgers to wash down with your beers. Also, daily there is live music with performances from Jordi Cardona, on Friday, La Movida on Saturday with DJ Petit and DJ Vázquez and then on Sunday DJ Javi Box will be rounding off events with the Satisfaction Party. Children will have their own entertainment in the kids' zone, with two bouncy castles and on Sunday there's a clown show.

This year's event has almost double the amount of beers on offer over last years event which each year attracts more and more visitors, bringing beers from across the world from places like Mexico, Japan and Australia. The company behind gluten-free brew, Iboshim Weissbier, created for last year's event has been enormously successful and the same company is launching an India Pale Ale beer, especially for the 2016 festival.

So, beer aficionados, mark your calendars and get ready for a barrel of fun at this year's exciting beer festival.
