Government Green Light for Ibiza Parador

Way back in 2004 we told you about plans for a Parador in Ibiza.

Way back in 2004 we told you about plans for a Parador in Ibiza. Well, apart from lots of paperwork being shuffled about from office to office, nothing as actually happened on the bricks and mortar front!

However, a major milestone has just been passed as the Spanish central Government has authorised the project to convert Ibiza's castle and Almudaina into a 72 bed hotel with a budget of approximately €17,499,462.89!

All that needs to be done now is to find a contractor by tender and the project will be up and running with a projected termination date of 2011.

Quite naturally Ibiza's Mayor, Lurdes Costa, is cock-a-hoop, claiming that the new parador will revitalise the whole Dalt Vila area by attracting quality tourism throughout the whole year. It will add to the fast increasing stock of 5 star accommodation in Ibiza – 1080 places this summer, 2300 by 2010, and then the parador the following year. The future certainly looks bright for Ibiza.
