SPTL081: Sam Walker

...ensuring Pukka Up get a fine representation.

Sam's passion for music started at an early age acquiring his first set of decks at the age of 12. He showed a natural flare quickly immersing himself in whatever vinyl he could get his hands on starting with Hip-Hop and UK Garage moving onto Trance and Club Anthems finally finding his niche in House. With his talent for finding the right tracks, coupled with his natural technical ability he was quickly snapped up at the tender age of 16 holding residencies at clubs and bars in Liverpool culminating in him winning the coveted Dreamland DJ competition in 2004 landing him a monthly residency in Cumbria playing for Dreamland alongside Eddie Halliwell, Judge Jules, Lisa Lashes to name a few.

After proving himself alongside the big guys of the industry he quickly gained another residency at the clubbing institution Spun Out in Liverpool alongside John Kelly playing with international guests on a weekly basis. With his gifted ear for music and playing the right tracks at the right time Sam was quickly branded as a ‘rising star' in Liverpool.

With the industry starting to take notice of his talent behind the decks bookings started flowing in from International Club Brands Hedkandi, Gatecrasher and Goodgreef to name but a few all before the age of 21 with a career highlight stepping up to the mark playing his first big festival in the Ministry of Sound Arena at Block Party Birmingham ‘09.

With his career gaining media interest, features in the Liverpool echo and his New Years Eve set broadcast on Liverpool's Juice FM radio he took the steps to realising his childhood dream and true potential in becoming a full time DJ where Sam was quickly snapped up as a resident for one of the UK's biggest House Brands Pukka Up and has since truly stepped up to the mark as an international DJ.

Sam now plays across Europe regularly with a busy UK national tour schedule, he holds a prestigious residency with Global Super Club Space, Ibiza with Carl Cox on Tuesdays and Come Together on Thursdays and he has also just completed his first International tour taking in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore and an Australian National club tour in 2010 and has since returned in 2011.

Sam is signed to Pukka Up Records, which he co-runs and has numerous releases with. He has also signed tracks to other labels such as Audio Damage, Deluded Records, Stylus Records and Weekend Millionaires where he has done both original and remix work. Sam regularly works with the ever-talented Teej from Pukka Up Records and German outfit, The Groove Guys. Two of the records signed by the label made the compilation album “Ibiza Loves Me” The Summer Lives On (released in November 2011 worldwide).

To top a fantastic 2011 Sam was asked by Pukka Up to put together and mix down the Club Mix CD from the “Ibiza Loves Me' The Summer Lives On compilation album.

On top of all this Sam is the man behind Pukka Up Radio, a show that he does weekly and is broadcasted worldwide to 15 radio stations in 11 different countries from the UK to Australia.

His style of music is nothing short of enthralling with a natural energy and vibe from the decks he spends countless hours fine tuning his action-packed sets selecting the latest and best tracks that are on offer, including his own productions and remixes he is gaining a growing fan base and a reputation for the some of the best and most intuitive sets you will ever hear.
