Amnesia welcomes home Pyramid

Underground vibes and heavy techno beats.

Providing Ibiza with some good old underground vibes, Amnesia's offspring Pyramid threw a tremendous opening party this past Monday.

The Ibiza-born event debuted last year with some unmissable techno showdowns. This year seems, no different, continuing along the same lines right from the start with a whopping opening party line-up.

I was delighted to finally lose my Pyramid virginity. The night promised to be a good one. Making Mondays great again, tech sounds and experimental sets welcomed me into the seemingly underground other world.

The sound of Italian DJ and producer Luca Donzelli was the first to dominate the Club room. An interesting track, Stripes & Strings by Autotune perfectly introduced the theme of the night.

Having never been to the event before, I was taken aback by the setting. Vast production means had obviously been pumped into this event and rightly so for the special night.

Combining nature and technology the decor was imaginative, creating a great space for Pyramid ravers. With leaf-like vines covering Amnesia's interior, it made for a cosy rave space, perfect for the underground vibes.

Work It! by DJ and producer Ricochet got everybody going in the Club room and was a great warm-up for the hell Helena Hauff was about to unleash.

From 2:00 to 4:00 the German talent shook Amnesia's club with tracks like The Fear by Christopher Joseph.

Like a wizard, Hauff effortlessly mastered the rave. Fully immersed in an underground world, I lost my mind to the tunes and company.

One of the best parts was the crowd. Authentic and inspired, it saw no imitators of the raving lifestyle. People were there for one reason - the music.

I caught one last track of her set before I made my depart to the Terrace. Check this out. The Walk (Original Mix) by Macromism was the perfect goodbye, sending me to the Terrace in excellent spirits.

In the Terrace, tINI greeted me into her world with Living On A Star (Original Mix) by Sonate.

Jerky sounds and twisty lighting effects characterised the room and encouraged fast erratic and passionate dancing.

As dancers led the festivities from the centre of the Terrace, Let Me Hit That Ass (Traxman's Back To Da Sound Remix) by Robert Armani saw the dance floor unite in adoration.

Lastly, it was the boss's turn. Ricardo Villalobos, known for his greatness in the realms of minimal techno, returned to his home for a night of fun and good music.

His unique sound intrigued me, making for a memorable experience in the iconic Ibiza party destination Amnesia.

The Harlot (Original Mix) by 100Hz was one of these carefully selected, first-class tracks.

Meanwhile, it was techno-queen Nina Kraviz's turn to take on the night. Having watched videos of her excellence I was excited to catch her set. Obviously, she didn't disappoint.

Heavy bass was central to her sum up. I was completely consumed by the sounds and happily satisfied with what I had seen and heard throughout my first night at Pyramid.

Underground favourites the likes of Darius Syrossian, Solomun, Oxia, Rhadoo, Raresh, Enrico Sangiuliano, Four Tet and, of course, main man Ricardo Villalobos are all scheduled to pass through its doors throughout this season.
