DJ Cici in action for MAAC (if you'd like to see more click here...)

And now for some good news… Throughout the lockdown period it seems as if the entire electronic music industry has risen to the occasion, to help those in need around the world. We have been happy to champion their valiant efforts and would like to give you some very positive feedback about their achievements.

Defected Virtual Festivals

Since lockdown began, Defected Records have been entertaining us every Friday with their Virtual Festivals, supported by their Defected and Glitterbox rosters of world-class house DJs. The series has already been viewed by a total of 14 million people, from an average of 91 countries per week.

The label has been raising money during the streams in aid of the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, a cause to which tech giant Google has pledged to double the amount donated - bringing the total raised to an incredible $1,200,000!

It is still not too late to give, and this weekend will see the ninth and final event in the live stream series, with a very big star name heading the line-up. More info to follow…

LNADJ - Set for Love

The charity Last Night A DJ Saved My Life (LNADJ) have announced that over £50,000 has been raised so far from the recent Set For Love campaign. More than 1000 DJs, from 50 countries, took part in the Set For Love launch weekend from 8 - 10th May.

The 72-hour mixing marathon featured DJs live streaming simultaneously to their networks, on a variety of platforms. It was the first event of its kind in bringing the DJ community of all levels together to fundraise, from bedroom DJs to A-listers. Some highly respected names from the electronic music community took part, including Paul Oakenfold, Nightmares On Wax, Nick Warren, Jackmaster and Doorly.

The funds were raised for the charity's COVID-19 Emergency Appeal to help its partner communities in developing countries who are suffering drastic consequences of lockdown. The money will be used to provide food parcels, fresh water and sanitation supplies in parts of Uganda, Nepal, Tanzania and Indonesia.

Music Against Animal Cruelty

On Saturday 16 May, non-profit organisation, Music Against Animal Cruelty (MAAC), held their ‘Wild Digital' live stream event, to reach out to the world and raise awareness for their 2020 initiatives, aimed at protecting vulnerable species around the world. MAAC put together a jaw-dropping line-up of techno nobility, who attracted over 5 million techno fans worldwide.

The event has already raised around €9000 and more contributions would still be gratefully accepted at their fundraising page.

Ibiza Food Bank

Last week announced the launch of the Ibiza Food Bank initiative, here on the island, to help relieve the plight of local farmers who are unable to harvest and distribute their produce to those who need it most.

The charity has already raised €10,000 of their initial €15,000 total, after just 9 days since launch. Everyone knows by now, there is an urgent need to provide food to many households across Ibiza and every euro will be spent on feeding those in need.

Your donations will support farmers to produce fresh food and many families to eat nutritious food, so please keep giving if you can. Head over to their GoFundMe page to help them reach their target.

Ibiza Spotlight has been very pleased to champion these wonderful causes and would like to especially thank you, our followers, if you have contributed your time or pledged money to make these efforts a success in such difficult times.
