The spirited Cala Jondal

Featured Ibiza beach

Where and what?

On the island's south-west coast is this secluded bay with the soft shade of pine-covered hills and rocky Jurassic cliffs as the backdrop. A great example of the combination of Ibiza's wild nature with hints of its wild side, yet with a pervading chilled feel. The ambient sound of the music drifting over your body is what reminds you where you are.

Why go?

This is the beach home of A-listers, celebrities and the super-rich so you'll certainly see a nice bit of bling along with the designer swimwear. It also has a unique feel to it, with its dramatic scenery and relaxed open attitude. There are sandy stretches of beach with a fair few pebbles and the waters are crystal clear. You'll be so much on another plain that you might not even need a massage at one of the trendy beach clubs, but when in Ibiza…

Things to do

As well as the VIP hangout Blue Marlin, there's the excellent Tropicana Ibiza beach club, which has a very inventive menu of sparklingly fresh food without ridiculous prices. You'll find plenty of trendy spots to grab a bite though you can eat very well in one of the rustic cafés or chiringuitos. If you have hired a boat, you can moor up and get one of the restaurants and bars to do a dinghy service. Most do and it's an easy way to get a fab lunch. You can explore the scenery or go on a pedalo, though you'll find that this is not so much an activity beach. Here you come to chill or you come to party.

How to get there

You can get here by car or private launch only really. It's much visited so try to find the car parks for the place you are going to, to guarantee a spot there. If just visiting the beach, then go early to find parking.
