Review: Ibiza Rocks with Chase & Status + Dot Rotten

Another forum review courtesy of McRackin.

With half of the season done, we arrived to the first week of august and we all know that means the busiest moment of the year... add Chase & Status to the equation and you get one of the hottest nights of the summer at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel!

This week the opening act was London rapper Dot Rotten, who was nominated for the BBC's Sound of 2012 poll. He presented the songs that will be part of his debut Voices in my head, out at the end of this month, finishing with the popular "Overload"!

Long time resident Doorly, who lately is travelling more than Willy Fog, returned after a month and a half DJing all over the globe. I have to say I missed his frantic mixing style and his suprising song selections... one minute you hear "All right now" by Free and the next some crazy dubstep tune. He invited glaswegian DJ and label manager Jackmaster (Numbers Records/Rinse FM) to spin a few tunes and afterwards they did a back-to-back set at theIbiza Rocks Bar... welcome home Martin!

The duo Chase & Status were back, after their shows in 2010 and 2011, for their only full live show in Ibiza this summer! As soon as MC Rage (who was wearing a cool skatanist t-shirt) grabbed the mic the rain of beer and the mad moshpits started. No new material to present this time as since last year they only released the live album Live at Brixton Academy although, apart from playing the best songs from their two albums and covering R.A.T.M.'s "Killing in the name", they included the new "Big man" (featuring Liam Bailey on vocals)... a good preview of their highly anticipated new album expected for late 2012. One hour and a half of pure mayhem... with that energy level is no wonder they were part of the line-up of this year's Download festival (UK's biggest rock/metal festie) since their live shows are incendiary and they seriously rock!
