REVIEW: Carl Cox Opening

One of the most popular nights on the island went crash, bang, whallop into action with a beast of an opening party.

Arriving to Space just after midnight, the quiet car park was merely a red herring to the fact that inside John Digweed already had the Discoteca packed out and was serving out some classic Diggers power throb. Layo & Bushwacka's LB21 got a particularly good reaction.

Along with We Love on Sunday, Tuesdays are one of the only days you get to see Space in all its glory, with the Sunset Terrace, El Salon, the Caja Roja and the Premier Etage all open, along with the Discoteca and Terrazza of course. Carl as usual played a house set to rock out the Sunset before taking on the Discoteca (3 till close), smashing out a trademark Coxy latin-infused set of heavy basslines and electronic techno.

Over on the Terrazza, Pendulum did their best to enthuse the few hundred who were watching them, including a not-so-keen Pepe Rosello, but with Digweed belting it out in the other room, the competition was stiff. I'm sure the terrace will be a little busier for the likes of Dubfire, Green Velvet and Sasha in the weeks to come. Don't miss it!
